Our entire estate is surrounded by majestic woodland areas. These towering Pine Trees that North Carolina is known for, bring an enchantment to the estate that our couples love! The Woodlands provide the perfect backdrop for engagement and bridal photos for the couple looking for an outdoor wedding venue that values natural beauty. With several trails already in place, we encourage our couples to explore the woodlands and use their beauty as a focal point for wedding photos.
The Pasture is home to all our farm animals at Painted Pony Vineyards and will be one of the first things you see as you make your way to parking lot. The animals are extremely friendly and will meet you at the fence to socialize. Of all our attractions, the animals are definitely the biggest hit! We encourage bringing treats for the animals so your guests can interact with them during cocktail hour. For family friendly weddings, The Pasture is the most popular area on the estate for the younger crowd. Click through the link below to see a gallery of the animals and a list of everyone who calls The Pasture home.
The Farmhouse was the first structure built on the estate and the second level is still the home of owners, Lee and Cheryl Carter. The first level used to be horse stalls but were later converted to the bridal and groom suites. We are currently using the groom's room as a wine closet, but don't worry - we are letting the guys use The Cabin for their dressing room instead. The Farmhouse is also the home to our outdoor fireplace and courtyard. The outdoor fireplace was where our owners were married 8 years ago. This spot is just steps away from the bridal suite and can be used as an extra spot for the bridal party to have brunch while they get ready or even as a station for the make-up artist.
The Lake might have been man-made but God supplied the fish! The Lake is located on the far end of the estate behind The Chapel and can be seen in the background at your ceremony site. The Cabin has spectacular view of The Lake and yes, we do allow fishing during overnight stays. We also encourage providing your guests with fish food for littles who would love to see the fish jumping for treats - with proper adult supervision of course. Plans are in place to include a dock at The Lake in the near future. We can't wait to see how bridal portraits on the dock will turn out!
Cheryl, a retired educator, has spent years hosting parties and events; both personally and professionally. One of her earliest memories are the many tea parties she hosted as a child. Each wooden tree stump was dressed in fine/old linens from her Grandmother’s closet, and tattered rugs lined the forest floor. Cheryl, created a woodland themed party atmosphere from almost anything she could find, and always had fresh flowers and lively dancing; it’s no wonder when she hosted her first wedding as a favor to a friend of a friend, she rolled out the carpet, as if for one of her magical tea parties! Cheryl’s added touches are one of her most noted trademarks at weddings.
Lee is a licensed General Contractor and a tractor enthusiast. Lee planted the 20 acre vineyard, a built a pasture for the horse he bought his wife as her engagement present, and built The Farmhouse, with horse stalls beneath. Since then, Lee converted the stalls into bride, and groom’s suites, and has constructed several additional areas on the estate. The Barn, and The Chapel, are Lee’s most admired creations on the estate.

"I’m not great with words, but if I could give a “what if”scenario...
If I was in a “ground hogs day” loop, and I had to relive that day over and over I would have absolutely no objections. Every. Single. Thing. Was. PERFECT. We hired everyone of of the Vineyards preferred vender list, and after working with them I understand why they’re on there. On top of that we brought Kaleh in as our day of coordinator, (later than we should have), and with the combination of amazing vendors, Kaleh’s coordinating, and an unbelievably beautiful venue the entire day was seamless and stress free. As the days pass since our wedding we’ve heard nothing but amazing things from friends and family who had celebrated with us. I will time and time again recommend Painted Pony Vineyards to everyone who asks for the best place to get married in NC. 1000/10."

“I had my wedding at Painted Pony on October 19, 2019. Mrs. Cheryl, Mr. Lee, and Kaleh are all so so helpful through the entire planning process including set up the day of. They definitely take into account what you’re envisioning for your big day and will help make your dream come true! Absolutely gorgeous property and so many beautiful places to have pictures taken. I could not imagine having my wedding any where else. You’ll definitely regret not having your big day at Painted Pony Vineyards!!! Also, did I mention the animals?!”

"We honestly could not get married in a better place. Cheryl, her husband and her lovely assistant were incredibly sweet & always responsive to any questions we had. They truly made it easy for us. The venue speaks for itself. Love the fact that I didn’t have to think much about decorations because creation simply took the show at this wedding. Overall...it was a wedding to remember & this venue simply took the cake! I would recommend to anyone! (Also your pictures would come out insanely gorgeous here...how could they not with a scenery like that!)"
